Classification of external anti-burglary doors

How are external anti-burglary doors marked?

Compliant with European standards. Each anti-burglary external door to your home is marked with the letters RC and a number from 1 to 6. The individual numbers determine how long the door will protect against potential burglary and what tools it is resistant to.

What are individual classes of compliance with European standards?

RC1. Doors with basic anti-burglary protection, which will constitute an effective barrier against attempted burglary without the use of tools, and mainly with the use of physical force, e.g. by trying to pry it open with a shoulder or trying to pull or lift it.
RC2. Anti-burglary external doors that will act as an obstacle for approx. 3 minutes to a burglar who uses simple tools, e.g. a hammer or a screwdriver.
RC3. Anti-burglary external doors for a single-family house or apartment that will withstand a 5-minute break-in attempt using simple tools.
RC4. Models with a more advanced design that will withstand the pressure of more advanced tools used by an experienced burglar for about 10 minutes.
RC5. A door that will protect the interior of your house against a burglar using power tools for 15 minutes.
RC6. Anti-burglary external doors ensure the highest protection and protect the interior of the building against burglary using power tools for 20 minutes.

What dimensions of external anti-burglary doors are available?

Anti-burglary models are available in many variants, both in terms of design and dimensions. The narrowest model that you can install in accordance with construction law is a 90 cm anti-burglary external door. If you are looking for wider leaves, 100, 110, 120, or even 130 cm anti-burglary external doors will be a good choice. These wider models will look best divided into two wings. Anti-burglary external doors can be either full or enhanced with glazing.

How to choose the best security doors?

Design of the anti-burglar doors

Before deciding on the perfect door model for your home, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the basic elements of their security and construction. What is responsible for the fact that the door is resistant to drilling, prying, or breaking attempts? And consequently – what should you pay attention to when buying?

Notice the solid door frame

Security bolts on a anti-burglar door
Not only the quality of the door itself (Wings) determines the level of security of the entrance to your home. You should also take care of the frame to which you attach the door Wings. It is a stationary frame located in the door opening. To secure it properly in the wall and thus prevent a burglar from tearing it out, door installers should use anchors. They should be screwed in and then bricked up – it is important that they are embedded deep in the wall. The anchors must be screwed into a solid door frame – check it for any damage.

Good hinges won’t give a thief a chance

Security door hinges
There are at least 3 hinges in anti-burglary doors. They are hidden in the body so that thieves do not have easy access to them. Additionally, in order to strengthen them, they are covered with metal inserts. What if the burglar manages to cut them? Due to this possibility, the doors are secured with anti-burglary bolts. Thanks to them, it will not be possible to pull the doors out of the frame even if the hinges are cut.

Anti-burglary door wings

We move on to the heart of the anti-burglary door – a door wings made of a steel frame. Underneath the sheet metal, there is a grid made of metal rods. We recommend rotating rods the most. It will be almost impossible for a burglar to cut them because the blade of any tool (e.g. a saw) sets the bars in motion instead of cutting them. Insulating materials are placed between them to maintain thermal and acoustic functions. All this is covered with a steel sheet at least 1.5 mm thick.

The zipper is unbreakable

Steel security doors lock with safety bolts

What is its mechanism? The main lock contains bolts (also called pins) that can be extended in 3 directions. Their number affects safety, but also the price, because the more of them, the more difficult it is to force the door. The minimum number is 4, and the best models have up to 14 bolts. The lock, like the hinges, should have an addition on the outside
